About Us

In February of 1978, Robert and Mary Godziebiewski moved to Traverse City from the Clarkston area of Michigan with their two sons Allen and Gary who joined the family business. They left behind the security of a very successful cabinet shop that Robert and his brother had owned and operated.

What came to Traverse City with them were 22 years of experience in cabinetry, and a few pieces of equipment. Ten years later CBR moved their custom cabinetry shop from a 1500 sq. foot building to a modern 6000 sq. foot manufacturing facility. Since then, it has doubled in size to 12000 sq. feet and new equipment has been regularly added to maintain their high standard of quality and service.  Gary who started in manufacturing and installation is now the president and co-owner with partner Leon Sutherland who joined CBR in 2011. Cabinets by Robert has a full staff complete with custom cabinetry builders, a professional installation team, and experienced designers. CBR will continue to offer its unique blend of custom design, quality craftsmanship, and outstanding personal service to the Northern Michigan area for years to come.

Their showroom at 2774 Garfield Avenue has undergone numerous renovations and improvements. It is currently one of the finest showrooms in Northern Michigan, and displays many different styles, colors, and designs for both residential and commercial cabinetry.

Showroom Hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am-2:00 pm.
